Hello! I’m Ken Winograd, the author of Hang3000. I first wrote a game called Hangman in 1985, then, through the years, I updated and re-named the game to Hangman Plus, then Hang2000. I’ve continually tried to update the game, adding new features either just for the fun of it, or to take advantage of new capabilities that the operating systems provided (digitized sounds, color graphics, etc.). With this latest version, Hang3000 takes the simple game of hangman to a new and exciting level. I hope you will try it for yourself. I like to think of it as hangman for the NEXT millennium!
Hang3000 is my take on the classic hangman game, the same one we all played when we were kids, on paper or on the blackboard at school. Hang3000 is easy to play, and fun for all ages. Letters can be chosen using the mouse or the keyboard. Words can be selected from dozens of built-in categories, or you can enter your own word(s), or even enter whole vocabulary lists from school.

Another thing that really makes Hang3000 v1.01 enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Hang3000 v1.01. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
