Now Nifflas has released a sequel called “Knytt Stories” (which takes place in the same world as “Knytt”) and the game is beautiful as well, but much more challenging than original “Knytt”. There are more monsters and a whole bunch of special abilities (upgrades) to be found now and there are three difficulty modes.
The basic game consists of a tutorial and one adventure (“The Machine”), but there are several new adventures (made by Nifflas himself or by fans) you can download from this place, on Nifflas homepage or in his forum.
And best is: “Knytt Stories” comes along with an easy to use editor. So if you still think the game is to easy then you can start to create your own adventures.
P.S.: Please look at the installation process. I haven’t seen something that cute and funny for a very long time…
Another thing that really makes Knytt Stories enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Knytt Stories. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
