What is The Game of Go?
Go is a battle of wits. It is played by placing “stones” on a board of intersecting lines to control territory and to capture your opponent’s stones. It sounds simple enough, but play becomes subtle and beautiful and even, yes, artistic. Go is a game of war. Your goal is to capture territory and opponents. You do this by attacking, defending, counterattacking, creating decoys, and sometimes sacrificing. You must think through strategies and tactics. The battlefield is always changing. Go is a lesson in life. It is philosophical. It teaches about efficiency, patience, decisiveness, reason, objectivity, greed, caution, integrity, judgment, and respect. Go is hugely popular in the orient. It is thought to have originated in China many thousands of years ago, but today it is most popular in Japan and Korea.
What is Komodo Go Replay?
Komodo Go Replay serves two purposes:
1) It can be used as an educational tool to learn about and to study go. You can record and play back entire games. Moves can be taken back and replayed at varying speeds. Board positions can be set up for study. Individual moves can be annotated; opening and closing comments can be annotated. In the full commercial version, there is superb printed output of moves, board positions, and accompanying annotations.
2) Two people can use Komodo Go Replay to play each other. Real go boards are large, are not widely available, and can be very expensive. With Komodo Go Replay, go just became accessible and affordable.

Another thing that really makes Komodo Go Replay v1.1 enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Komodo Go Replay v1.1. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
