FYI, here is the mission briefing, since you can’t read it very easily
without having the game:
OVERVIEW
Due to our recent successful air attacks, the Ukrainians have been
forced to spread their air defense assets thinly. ELINT data
indicates Simferopol airfield is currently devoid of long range SAM
protection, so the time is ripe to shut down this strategic base.
Your job is to take out any remaining medium and short range air
defenses around the airfield quickly, before the main strike
force arrives. A flight of MiG-29s will fly CAP over the target.
TARGETS
All air defenses covering the field.
THREATS
– At least one medium range SAM is located next to the airfield.
– AAA and short range SAMs are probably present.
– No CAP.
– GAI from both Simferopol and Saki.
SUPPORT
– AWACS is available.
TACTICS
– Ingress at low altitude.
– Destroy the medium range SAM site first if possible, since it is the
biggest initial threat.
– Employ stand-off tactics to avoid attack from AAA and short range SAMs.
– Let the MiG-29s take care of any enemy fighters you run into.
– Get in and out fast as this attack will stir up a hornet’s nest.

Another thing that really makes Su-27 Flanker (Iron Hand Mission) enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Su-27 Flanker (Iron Hand Mission). Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
