for a very colorful and pleasing playing board. The object of the game is
to capture as many of your opponents pieces as possible. This is done by
flanking your opponents piece or pieces on two sides in a line. For example
by surounding your opponent diagonally, vertically, or horizontally. When
captured, the pieces change from your opponents piece to your piece. The
player with the most pieces at the end of the game wins. If no moves can
be made then the computer will automatically forfeit that players move.
The game ends when when either all of the squares have been filled or no
more valid moves can be made. The winner is the person with the most pieces
at the end of the game. Towards the end of the game the lead usually changes
sides very often. This is because of the number of pieces being taken or re-
claimed by each side. So be extra careful where you put your pieces at the
end of the game.
Another thing that really makes Apples & Oranges enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Apples & Oranges. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
