Try running MONSTER on a friend’s terminal while they’re gone, or better yet,
stick it in a batch file. Upon pressing m, they will be confronted by a large
flickering boogey-man. Screen text is not destroyed, and control is returned
to the current application when the monster disappears.
Another thing that really makes MONSTER enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay.
