Kings is a game about being the dominant civilization on a planet. You control your civilization, build cities, control trade and production, and command your armies in battle. I know a game of this nature is not new: Civilization and Empire come immediately to mind as others of this sort. After seeing those games, I tried to make my own version with features of each that I liked and changing things I didn’t like about either one. For a pretty good idea of my reasons for doing stuff, please read NOTES.TXT.
The user interface should be pretty simple to figure out. The escape key will always get you back a level in the menus (unless you’re somewhere that you can’t be backed out from). You should not use the Num Lock key when you’re playing, since I use Home, End, Pg Up, and Pg Dn as diagonal arrows when using the map.
A player’s kingdom is updated immediately before his turn, so you may notice a short delay (longer as the game progresses). During a game turn, each player will get a chance to use any or all of his units and modify the production at any of his cities. To stop playing, either only one player can be left or all three players must pass.

Another thing that really makes KINGS v1.3 enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to KINGS v1.3. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
