Running the game
—————-
Simply double-click the Aquaplane executable. You may be asked to choose a display driver if you have more than one.
Controls
——–
You can use both joystick and keyboard.
Keyboard: Redefine keys from the main screen. The default keys are the up, down and right arrows on the keyboard with P for pause.
Joystick: Use joystick buttons 1,2 or 3 to thrust. Buttons 4,5 and 6 will pause if you have them.
Press ESC key at any time to exit the game.
Playing the game
—————-
You control the boat connected to a water-skier. Simply avoid all the hazards for as long as possible. Do not allow the boat or the skier to touch anything. You do not have to worry about the rope. Watch out for the skier swinging from side to side, although this can sometimes be used to your advantage.
You gain score each time an obstacle passes off the screen. If you make it to the end of the level then you receive bonus points based on the number of lives you have left.
Cheating
——–
On the main title screen type the word “TOWEL” before the high score table appears. Now you can press SPACE while playing the game to toggle invincibility mode.

Another thing that really makes Aquaplane (Remake) enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Aquaplane (Remake). Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
