This game takes place far in the future – the year 9999 to be exact. Man has long since left earth and ventured in the universe. In fact, man has ventured so far from earth and for so long that no one remembers the location of man’s ancient origin, earth (also referred to in legend as the home planet). You are the commander of an interstellar archaeological expedition which is one of many search for earth.
You have found a likely planet, and even though it is now devoid of any intelligent life, you have detected remains of a once highly developed race. You land to investigate an underground artifact site. You have three archeodroids – archaeological search robots. You control one at a time and only use your reserves (if you have any) when your present robot runs out of charges and dies.
Your robot starts out with 10 charges. Charges clear a five block area of earth in the direction the robot was moving. If an explosion from a charge hits an artifact, it is at least partially destroyed – but some of the artifact may remain and can be taken for partial credit.
None of the orange colored containing wall around the site can be destroyed by charges except four squares surrounding the opening. This initial opening and the other four possible ‘holes’ around it are your only exits. Once your robot runs out of charges, he not only is not able to excavate, but he must get to the mother ship within about 6 seconds or he will cease to function.
The red cross left where he dies is the location of all the artifacts he was holding, so you can pick up those artifacts with your next robot by moving over the red cross.
Be careful of cave-ins! Every time you set off a charge, a few blocks of earth shift positions. Therefore, it is possible for your planned exit to be blocked up when you least expect it.

Another thing that really makes Archeodroid enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Archeodroid. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
