Kwiks is a clone of the old 8-bit classic game QIX. In the game the screen has to be filled as good as possible with a picture. This is done by marking areas on the screen which then (if there is no monster in them) are filled with the picture. When the player has filled 75% of the playfield the level is completed. With a white line the fill-area is marked, blue lines are old, filled white lines. The player must not cross his own white lines and these must not be hit by monsters, too! Blue lines and filled areas may be passed. Different types of monsters exist, they behave different and so must be handled special. Hitting a monster is deadly! If you get hit and there are lives left, you continue your game in the middle top of the screen. Every 5000 points you get a new life.

Another thing that really makes Kwiks enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Kwiks. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
