The game takes place in medieval world where two different fractions battle each other: Magics and Techs.
You can play each of the two fractions. If you decide to play the Techs, you have to use your workers to harvest precious resources (gold, wood, stones) and create buildings you need to explore and exercise new units and sciences. If you take side of the Magics instead, everything can be done with magic. You can summon demons, golems and drakes to send them to battle, but you have to be careful that there are always enough sources of you magical powers.
“Glest” has very nice graphics (weather effects, day and night circle, shadows) and an amazing soundtrack. It can be played in single mode or in multiplayer mode with up to four players (using LAN or internet connection). The whole game can be controlled with the mouse and comes along with several different maps and scenarios.
Another thing that really makes Glest enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Glest. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
