Fixes
– This patch adds several new features to the game, and includes all
– fixes from the previous patch (LHPAT.EXE). See “Additional Information”
– (below) for more details on the new features.
Lighthouse now contains a comprehensive online help system. Just click on the help button anywhere in the game, and it will provide clues specific to the scene you are currently in. To access the hint button the player must first click on the Lighthouse icon on the lower left of the interface. This brings up the game options screen. The player can then click on the “Need a Hint?” button to receive a hint. A few scenes do not have hint information, in which case a “There is no hint for this screen” message will appear. Also some scenes will display the same hint if they relate to a particular puzzle or player action that needs to be performed to proceed.
Lighthouse now includes the option to play the game with Highlighting cursors. Whenever your cursor passes over an area of the screen that will respond to a mouse-click, the cursor will brighten. This makes the game easier to play, because the player can immediately see where an item can be used, or where a mouse click is possible, rather than clicking everywhere until something happens.
To turn this feature on or off, click on the Lighthouse icon on the lower left to bring up the options screen, then click either “yes” or “no” to the right of the “Highlight Cursor” button. We recommend that the player set “Highlight Cursor” to “yes” unless the player wants the added challenge of the inactive cursor.
We have also included a few changes to some of the more difficult puzzles.
There is a diagram of the steam pipes in the Dark Domain, on the wall to the right of the crater door in the thermal power chamber.
There is an indicator light in the diving pod that alerts the player when the arm is in the right location to reach out and grab something.
There is an indicator light in the train to inform the player when the track switching lever is active ( so a turn can be made )
There is an indicator light in the bathysphere in the crater that alerts the player when the arm is in the right location to turn a valve on the wall.
The lab door combination in Dr. Krick’s notes is easier to read.

Another thing that really makes Lighthouse: The Dark Being v2.0 Patch enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Lighthouse: The Dark Being v2.0 Patch. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
