The aim of the game is to remove the pegs from the board. You have to move the pegs by capturing them like in the checkers. A capturing move is a jump and here, it is the only move allowed. The winning configuration is an empty board with one single peg on a random place.
There are several initial boards. The English, the french and the Egyptian board. The English board is the most famous, it is composed of 32 places. The french one is the same plus 4 pegs in the 4 angles. The ‘Egyptian’ board is a triangular board (15 places). For each one of these boards, the empty starting place is arbitrary chosen. PegSolit permits to solve particular configurations. You put the pegs on the board by yourself, and you start the search once you have the configuration that you wished.

Another thing that really makes PegSolit v2.5 enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to PegSolit v2.5. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
