PIGS – Freeware

To obtain the most points after 14 rounds of play.
Select the “New Game” option from the File menu. The program will randomly determine who rolls first (you or your computer opponent).
Begin your turn by clicking on the ROLL button. The face value of the dice thrown are added together and recorded on the score pad next to appropriate inning. You can throw the dice as often as you like during each inning, each time adding the total of that throw to your inning score. However, if at any time you roll a PIG (see next paragraph), you will loose all your points for that inning, and play will proceed to the computer player.
If you throw a 1 (a “PIG”), you score zero for that inning, and you must click on the PASS button to return play to the computer opponent.
You click on the ROLL button and toss a 7. This score is recorded on the score sheet. You click on the ROLL button again and toss an 11. This score is added to the 7, giving you a total of 18 (7 + 11) for the current inning. You’re feeling lucky, so you decide to roll again. This time you roll a 6 (one die shows a 5, the other a 1). Since you rolled a PIG (a one), you loose the 18 points you had accumulated for that inning, and play is passed on to the computer player.
A throw of a double, such as two 1’s, two 2’s, etc. scores bonus points. The points associated with each bonus throw are illustrated on the game board. Note that a throw of two 1’s does not constitute a PIG, but scores a bonus of 25 points.
Enjoy!

Another thing that really makes PIGS v2.01 enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to PIGS v2.01. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
