Spite and Malice is an old card game that requires a mixture of cunning, ruthlessness, and meanness in order to win consistently. Logical thinking is more important than the luck of the cards. If you win consistently at Freecell, you may do OK against this game. Otherwise, you’ll probably get frustrated and may even start cheating (allowed in this game). In any case, you’ll find Spite and Malice to be a very challenging game.
Two games in one –
The popular “Skip-Bo” game evolved from the original Spite and Malice game. In this current computer game, you can play the original game or a derivation of the Skip-Bo game (called the “Alternate” game mode here). The two games require dramatically different strategies.
Change the personality –
One of the key features of this game is that you can change any of the 30+ sounds or spoken phrases used. As an example, if you make a dumb move, the computer might say “U sure are dumb”, or “Stupid, stupid”, or “U sure make it easy”, etc. This allows you to change the language or to use gutter expletives *!#@&%!.
Fully functional and free –
You can download this game for free and with no time limitations. It is fully functional, even allowing you to play against another player on a network. The only limitatation is that only 3 different card setups are allowed instead of the 2 billion different games available after you make a small donation.

Another thing that really makes Spite and Malice enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Spite and Malice. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
