Battlezone is a tank-driving simulation arcade game. You are at the controls of a futuristic tank defending the earth against an attacking alien hoarde. The alien attacks come in waves of tanks, supertanks, and other nasties. It is night-time, you find yourself on a desolate plain surrounded by mountains – the attack starts…
This game is a fully featured and challenging arcade-style game, which can be played using a conventional keyboard. However, it has also been specifically designed so that it brings an inclusive arcade experience to kids and young adults in the Helen and Douglas House hospices. This is especially aimed at bringing games to those who cannot play arcade type games using conventional controls due to disability.
The game manages this by having several different play modes:
–eyetracker – the gameplay is directed solely by an eyetracker
–eyetracker + switch – the tank is directed by an eyetracker, firing by a switch
–keyboard – conventional play using a conventional keyboard
The game has user-configurable difficulty levels in all modes, ranging from a difficulty of 1 which is a hunt-and-shoot for stationary harmless tanks, upto level 6 which is full arcade difficulty. Settings can be amended via an in-game menu for the eyetracker modes.

Another thing that really makes Battlezone (Remake) enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Battlezone (Remake). Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
