The game has everything you wish for in an action game. Fast-paced action in different surroundings (jungle, warehouse, city), several guns and grenades you can choose from (after you collected them), a great soundtrack and decent controlling.
There are lots of checkpoints in every level, so you don’t have to start from the beginning over and over again every time you die. And best thing: You have twenty lives, so you really can play for a while before there is a “Game Over”. And your enemies stay dead after you killed them once (even when you die and have to start from the checkpoint again).
“Commando” was developed by Hamish McLeod, a member of “Fallen Angel Industries”, one of the best freeware making groups. Unfortunately their website was taken over some time ago and so it’s a bit hard to find their games at the moment (we have some more on the website like “A Game with a Kitty”, and “Reactor09”).

Another thing that really makes Commando (2004) enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Commando (2004). Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
