WHAT IS MISSION ESCAPE
In this age of Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, and Dark Forces II where game software for the PC is constantly getting bigger and bigger with more intense graphics and more intense system requirements, where are the games for the little guy? Aside from Solitaire, FreeCell, and Minesweeper, where are the games that you can play while on break at your desk at work? Where are the games that don’t require a ½ GB of hard drive space, 16 to 32 MB of RAM, a super-elaborate input device (normal joysticks just don’t cut it anymore), and a PCI accelerator video card for your computer? Nowadays you need a system fit for The X-Files just to play a computer game!
Not with Mission ESCAPE. This is the first in a series of Low Impact Entertainment Software ™ [L.I.E.S.] from Technical Machine Jargon ™ Productions, Inc. All you need to play this game is a PC, Windows, and a mouse. That’s it!
HOW TO PLAY THE GAME
The premise of this game, in a nutshell, is this: it’s the not-too-distant future and you encounter an abandoned space station. An array of multi- colored lights grabs your attention and you go in to investigate. Upon entering, you accidentally trip a dormant security system and are trapped with a limited amount of air left in the room. The security system is a pattern of red, yellow, and green lights arranged in various shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles, etc.). These lights constantly change colors in a random fashion at random intervals.
The object is to successfully click on all of the green lights in the pattern in order to lock the lights in and defeat the security system. When you click a green light, it turns gray and remains in position. Ah, but beware – you must do so before your air supply runs out or you die! Also, if you inadvertently click a yellow light you lose air faster. If you click a red light you lose even more air faster, bringing you even closer to your doom.
Also, when you click on a green light no more clicks will be accepted from you for a full second. This prevents you from being able to rapidly click a series of adjacent green lights in immediate succession. After all, we can’t make it TOO easy for you, can we?

Another thing that really makes Mission ESCAPE enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Mission ESCAPE. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
