Penguin Adventure is divided into five worlds, each containing four levels. The goal in each first three levels is to reach exit as quick as possible in order to receive bronze, silver or gold medal. Fourth level is usually maze-like and contains three differently coloured exits, one of which must be reached before time runs out.
Contrary to majority of platformers, it’s impossible to “die” in PA and you have unlimited number of tries per level. There are obstacles like crumbling blocks and enemy polar bears on your way, but environment isn’t lethal, only slows you down. However simple finishing of each level with bronze medal is not enough – before entering next world Tooks must upgrade his umbrella with new special power and shopkeeper Walter the Walrus demands enough medal points in exchange.
Umbrella upgrades include floating, block-breaking, grappling and pogo-jumping abilities. Some of them will help Tooks earn gold medals in earlier levels.
Another thing that really makes Penguin Adventure enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to Penguin Adventure. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
