The player must place cards from the pack of cards on a 4×4 board. The aim of the game is to get jacks, queens and kings to their rightful places. Kings must go in the four corners, queens must go between them and jacks must go below and above the kings. If a king is to be placed on the board and there is no kings place available the game is lost. Same goes for jacks and queens. When the board has been filled and the game not yet completed, cards, other than jacks, queens and kings can be removed from the board in singles or pairs if they sum up to ten.

Another thing that really makes Square Royal enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times.
