This is an AGS adventure with a very unique graphical style (even if the animations could have been better) and an interesting story that brings the term “science fiction” back to its true meaning (and that means far away from stuff like “Star Wars”). You will find yourself some years in the future in a normal western civilization where the society is divided in two classes: a) The “Citizens” who live a life in safety and welfare and b) the “Off Limits” who live in the outskirts of the cities and don’t have any civil rights at all. You play the role of Susan Gant, a young reporter, who investigates in a burglary and soon finds herself in a conspiracy that might change the world forever… The great atmosphere and clever puzzles (which are not too hard) will keep you playing for hours. And there are three different endings to be seen. P.S.: The game crashes if you try to use inventory objects while looking at an open map, laptop, notepad or similar things. So you better don’t try this and save from time to time.

Another thing that really makes The Uncertainty Machine enjoyable for me is how it manages to stay interesting even after playing it multiple times. Many games feel repetitive after a while, but here, the experience still feels fresh because of the small details and different ways you can approach the gameplay. As you continue playing, you naturally start improving and understanding the mechanics better, which makes everything feel more rewarding. I also appreciate the balance the game maintains—it’s not too difficult, but it’s not too easy either. You can play it casually for a short break or spend longer sessions without getting bored. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to The Uncertainty Machine. Overall, it’s the kind of game that doesn’t just entertain you for a moment, but actually gives you a consistently enjoyable experience every time you play.
